FREE online training to learn how to take part in Extinction Rebellion actions including non-violent techniques, police interaction & more.
Come along to our online Non-Violent Direct Action (NVDA) workshop, hosted on Zoom, which will cover the practice of non-violent techniques: showing you how to de-escalate tense situations, how to interact with the police, what to do if you get arrested and much more.
You will learn about the history of Civil Disobedience, theories of Non-Violence, and various NVDA skills such as how to talk to the police, how to block a road, and how to use your support systems.
This workshop takes 3 hours, and includes 2 x 15 minute breaks – please arrive on time! There will be lots of information to learn, and chances to engage interactively with this information – it’s a good idea to bring a pen and paper. No prior knowledge is needed, we are all crew and we are all learning from each other.
There is a lot of information to learn in this, and we will be signposting you to other trainings throughout – the key workshops we want you to go to as part of our ‘Road to Rebellion’ are the Know Your Rights trainings, and the Affinity Group Formation Workshops (more information about these will be discussed in the workshop itself).
After booking for this event you will receive a confirmation email with details of how to access the Zoom. The event is free but you are very welcome to make a donation when you book. We hope to see you there!
This event is part of a whole host of online talks and training sessions that Extinction Rebellion Cornwall are running in the lead up to the Emergency Rebellion. Starting on August 28th, we will be joining a UK-wide wave of action to call attention to the overwhelming urgency of the Climate and Ecological Emergency.
Other events and trainings are planned, so please see: https://xrcornwall.eventbrite.co.uk
